If you are puchasing oils, my favorite brand is by Charvin Colors available exclusively at Jerry's Artarama. Another great brand is Lukas, they have both student grade and professional grade. If you are need to use Acrylics, check out the Matisse Structure Brand, also at Jerry's.

Oils Paints:
•Alizarin Crimson (or Magenta if you are using Charvin)
•Cadmium Red Light
•Cad Yellow Pale or light (no green hue)
•Ultramarine Blue
•Titanium White

Optional Colors
•Cad Yellow Medium
•Sap Green or Viridian
•Cerulean Blue (Or Manganese Blue) -Hue OK

• A variety of canvas or canvas panels (cost less) in any of these sizes or a combination of:
6 x 8, 8 x 10, 9 x 12 or 11 x 14. PLEASE NO CANVAS LARGER THAN 11 X 14 IN THE BEGINNER WORKSHOPS.

• Several brushes in a variety of sizes (natural bristle for oils), for example sizes 2, 4, 6, & 8 square and filbert

• Wood or disposable paper palette , 12 x 16 size a good start. (Note: Watercolor palettes not recommended for oils and plastic plates don’t work at all)

• For Oil: Odorless Turpenoid, Turpenoid Natural or Gamblin Gamasol

• A jar to hold your solvent or water painting medium

• Paper Towels

•Apron or smock
