Supplies for Jonathan Peedin's Figurative Classes:


The following materials can be purchased at:

Canvas:
Bring SEVERAL use these guidelines to determine your size preferences:
11 x 14 (for hands and feet)
16 x 20 for a head and shoulder study
18 x 24 or larger for full body studies

Brushes:
Jonathan recommends you bring the best FILBERT (not square or round) brushes you own for figurative. Ideally a silver or higher quality, the white hog hair variety, not sables. But you do not have to buy new brushes, just bring good ones in sizes ranging from 2-10.

Palette Knives:
At least one long thin kinfe, any brand is fine. You'll need it for mixing and cleaning your palette.

Empty Container for Mineral Spirits:
Jonathan will provide Gamblin OMS for the class. Please bring a jar with a screw on lid for storage.

Palette Cup:
To hold your medium. Jonathan will be providing medium. You can get a plastic cup with a screw on top or in a pinch bring a glass jar with a lid

Paints:
Jonathan prefers oils for figurative paintings, however you can bring your acrylics if that is your current medium. For an additional fee of $5/student Jonathan will provide the oil paints in the colors that best suit figurative painting, this is a good deal! If you are bringing your own paints, please bring the following colors:

- Zinc or titanium white
- Cadmium yellow
- Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre or Mars Yellow
- Cadmium Orange
- Cadmium Red or Vermillion
- Alizarin Crimson or Rose Madder
- Burnt Sienna
- Burnt Umber or Van Dyke brown
- Cerulean Blue
- Ultramarine Blue
- Chromium Oxide
- Sap Green or Viridian
- Ivory Black


Palette:
These inexpensive palettes are to be held in your hand while painting. The plastic palettes with covers won't work for this type of application. Getting the biggest one you can find would be ideal. If you have the time and/or inclination, wooden palettes perform better when they are stained with 2-3 coats of minwax on top (sanding between each coat). But this is NOT required....
