Cecilia Guitarte was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to the USA in 1991. From 2001 to 2004 she lived in Valencia, Spain. Returning to the US, started taking art workshops and painting on a regular basis. Cecilia’s oil paintings have evolved into a distinctly graphic interpretation of simple images that convey complex meanings. “My paintings are inspired from photos taken on my travels. I see lines and shapes, darks and lights and try to paint what has caught my attention. I have a very logical mind, so I like to simplify the objects and the colors that I use resulting in clean lines and a smooth surface.” This distinct style has earned Cecilia many awards and a place in the permanent collections of Duke Raleigh Hospital and WakeMed in Cary.
