Kimberlee Maselli
KIMBERLEE MASELLI
Creativity takes on many forms with Kimberlee Maselli. Encouraged to create from an early age, Kim pursued a degree in graphic design, followed by a Master’s Degree in technical writing, and has been combining art and writing ever since.
Long hours of working in an office or art studio, made Kim long to be outdoors, so several years ago she began plein air painting. The joy of being outside and the challenge of capturing different locations inspired her travels throughout the US and Canada to paint. She has studied with John Poon, Larry Moore, Kim Lordier, Armand Cabrera and Susan Sarback.
Kim has exhibited in numerous shows and in 2009 alone won awards for her works including; American Artist Magazine On Line Plein Award for NC scenery, Plein Air Oil Award - WAA Annual Juried Exhibit, Honorable Mention - International Charvin Plein Aire Contest, 2nd Place Award - Cary Gallery 'Small Treasures' Juried Exhibit, and Honorable Mention - Local Color Gallery Paint Out (First Place in ’08!).
As a Chroma Teaching Artist, Kim travels throughout the state giving workshops about using the new Interactive Acrylics. Several weekends a year she offers creative retreats in Emerald Isle, and she frequently teaches and demos at Jerry's Artarama in Raleigh.
Kim is a founding member and on the Executive Board of the North Carolina plein air painting association (PAINTNC.org).Her love for plein air motivated her latest book, “Painting North Carolina; Impressions en Plein Air,” which features over 130 full color paintings by a variety of professional artists. The book was awarded a Gold Medal of Excellence in the 13th Annual International IPPY Competition and featured at Book Expo in New York City, the largest publishing event in North America.
Some of Kim Maselli’s Corporate collectors include Duke Raleigh Hospital, Capital Bank Cary Branch and Corporate Offices in Raleigh, Capital Financial Solutions in Raleigh, and Glenaire Retirement Center in Cary.
